MATMED (MATerials for MEDical applications) is a former North West Europe (NWE) project, funded by Interreg VB, that supported SMEs, research institutions and stakeholders in the field of regenerative medicine and new materials from 2018 to 2022 to enable cross-border collaboration, cooperation, investor acquisition and training on MDR (Medical Device Regulation) beyond their own regional networks. The funding and the connected voucher system are no longer available, but with the continuation of the MATMED group in this platform we would like to preserve the transnational innovation ecosystem that has been created. We continue to offer all members the opportunity to actively network, exchange ideas, find the right partners, experts and contacts to advance innovative ideas in the fields of advanced materials, regenerative medicine and new medical devices to reach the market faster.
We, the network partners from North West Europe (link to the individual Partner networks) would also like to continue to publicize dates, training courses on MDR as well as current funding announcements on the topics of regenerative medicine, new materials and medical devices via this platform, facilitate contacts with investors and connect experts from the various fields. The platform is easy to use, accessible free of charge, with no obligations and allows interested players to collaborate projects, contacts and much more in this industry.
So, if you are working or researching in the field of medical technology, regenerative medicine or new medical materials, this is the place to find the right partners in North West Europe.

MATMED offers Northwest Europe the only dedicated transnational network connecting SMEs, universities, research centers, investors and experts in the fields of innovative materials for medical applications and medical devices in one LOCATION. The new MATMED directory is intelligently searchable, easy to use and accessible free of charge. Matching partners are found more easily and quickly because the system can automatically search for keywords in the background.
In addition to the specific, protected MATMED group, other new networks, projects and industries are included in this website, so that partners from new industry channels such as healthcare, mechanical engineering, the textile industry and the automation industry can also be found. This offers new potential for innovative development and collaboration opportunities, and MATMED members are simultaneously part of a larger researching, developing, and producing community.
At the heart of MATMED (MATerials for MEDical applications) is the online network, the MATMED platform for players active in the fields of innovative materials, medical devices and regenerative medicine. The aim of the platform is to facilitate and promote the search for solutions and networking between SMEs, research institutions, investors and other players in the sector.
The project was funded to build a network, bring SME innovations to market faster, validate new product developments and demonstrate technologies. MATMED aims to have a positive impact on health and well-being in the Northwest Europe region by breaking down the barriers that prevent product innovations from reaching both patients and the general population.
MATMED has enabled SMEs to understand the new regulatory framework for medical devices, in force since May 2022, and supported them in its implementation. Likewise, it has supported the search for private investment to enable the commercialization of innovations.
MATMED was financially supported by the European Union. A consortium of seven partners developed the online platform and led the project to success. Additional partners were added as the project progressed. Each individual partner network involved regional SMEs, start-ups and research institutions in the project. These registered on the MATMED platform, networked with each other and now form the basis of the MATMED community, which has been integrated into a new, more comprehensive interactive website. Here, MATMED members form a group that can continue to network, collaborate and share information. At the same time, there is an opportunity for new interested parties from the fields of innovative materials, medical devices, and regenerative medicine to become part of the community and contribute to the MATMED community.
The former project partners are still active in the field of life sciences and medical technology and are also available to answer your questions at any time.
